Repeal these regulations: they have literally no relevance to the safety of abortion

These regulations were passed by a Board of Health under duress by an ideologically-motivated Attorney General, who championed them for one reason only- to restrict abortion access. They have no possible bearing on any medical procedure, and were designed to prevent access to abortion without requiring a legal challenge to Roe vs. Wade. Because they are wholly and transparently an attempt to prevent Virginians from accessing a safe and legal medical procedure, the Board of Health has no business upholding them, and in fact must reject them.

If any of you on the Board believe that additional safety requirements are necessary for clinics that provide abortions, or for individual health centers in the Commonwealth, it is entirely appropriate that you should put forth regulations to ameliorate any dangers. You will encounter no argument from those of us who support reproductive rights if you approach regulation in good faith- in fact, you'll have our support. If there is a problem, by all means, fix it. But to pretend that these rules- on parking lot dimensions, specifications for awnings, closet number and size- are in any way related to public health is to act in bad faith.

You've been given a second chance to do the right thing; you must repeal TRAP in order to serve public health.
