Oxford House New Rules

I live in Oxford House Tyr in Roanoke, Virginia. Oxford Houses are democratically self-governing and self-supporting under the Oxford House system of operations. Thanks to Oxford I've been able to stay sober for two and a half years, which is longer than I've ever been able to in my life, and I've been able to do that because of how oxford is structured. It has allowed me to have a sense of responsibility and self-sufficiency after years of homelessness and financial struggles. The way we all support each other to run the house is a great model and I actually plan to stay here for a couple more years so I can go back to school and finish my degree that I never got to do because of my heroin addiction. If oxford falls apart I do not know where I see my life heading in the near future. I support rules that keep people safe, but rules that require staff or assume every home is a commercial business would keep Oxford Houses from operating in Virginia, even though research shows our model gets the best results. Please change those rules, and please clarify whether house members are considered the operator. Please consider the impact that these changes could have on the recovery community at large and all the individual lives that would be affected. Thanks and blessed be.
