My mother was in Monroe rehab in Charlottesville Virginia in 2025. We witnessed serious abuse and neglect of her while she was in their care. I visited every day and witnessed it myself. I told them that I wanted to speak to someone because I felt she was being neglected and abused so the nursing supervisor sat down with me. I had written in detail all of the instances that were extremely disturbing to me. The nursing supervisor said she would do an investigation. I didn't trust her investigation so I also reported the abuse and neglect to the Ombudsman and the Virginia Department of  Social Services. The Ombudsman was extremely helpful and listen to my concerns. She also filed a report with the state. I called Social Services multiple times and no one ever responded to me. My mother was not giving her medications on time, which caused her to be in pain, she also fell while she was in their care and was seriously injured. Promises they made about her therapy and her care or not follow through. Often when I visited her everyday she was in severe pain and crying because the nurses were very very late and giving her pain medication. My mother also told me that one of the physical therapists was flirting with her. And soon afterward touched her breasts. He also told her he wanted to know where my sister was taking her to lunch the next day so that he could show up at the same time. The report that was done by the nursing supervisor was a joke. She basically said that they were not at fault for anything. She did not believe my mother about the sexual assault. She said it was his word against hers and they were believing him. I insisted that they needed to put up some kind of cameras around him or have him monitored. She refused. I do not know if they were ever held accountable for what they did to my mom because Social Services still has never gotten in touch with me.
