It seems most people commenting on this petition haven't actually read it, because while the petition is ostensibly about the participation of trans women in women's athletics, the petition involves much more. It is straightforwardly bigoted in its intent, as it seeks to bar trans women from women's restrooms. It does absolutely nothing to protect anyone and only serves to endanger trans women by exposing them to harassment by men. 

Would you force your sisters or your daughters to use the men's restroom and put them at greater risk of harassment, sexual assault, and possibly murder? That is the reality that trans women will face. 

Would you like to subject your sisters or your daughters to humiliation rituals where they have to prove that they are "biologically female"? That is the reality that all women will face.

Any woman who is "too tall" or "too broad" or with "too strong of a jawline" or with "too deep of a voice" or who just happens to be seen as insufficiently feminine will be harassed. The implications of this petition fail to grasp how the desired outcome will be policed. You cannot ban trans women from women's spaces without harming all women by virtue of how a ban would need to be enforced. 

As a result, not only is this petition vile and transphobic, it will harm the very women and girls it will supposedly protect.
