Against Mandatory CE program for PE's

I have been registered as a Professional Engineer  since 1974 and held registrations in twenty jurisdictions in the US;  I am a NCEES record holder and an ABET evaluator. The CE requirement is something that I have experienced and complied with, in order to maintain my engineering licenses in certain States.

I found such a requirement  as totally ineffective and useless because it is poorly administered and the compliance requirements are improper. In reviewing the proposed regulations it appears that the same  will be in effect for Virginia as it is in other States that have such a CE requirement.

While I am strongly in favor of continuing education and professional development, I feel that such regulation should be of real substance and of such nature  in order to meet the mission of the engineering profession and truly provide for the professional development of engineers.

I urge you not to approve such regulations as they are presently proposed.
