Chapter Information
Description The regulations governing the reduction of weight limits establish limitations less than those prescribed in the Code of Virginia whenever an engineering study discloses that it would promote the safety of travel or is necessary for the protection of any such highway. Under the requirements of Section 46.2-1104 of the Code of Virginia, the document is to be kept on file at VDOT's Central Office. The Office of the Attorney General has found that this regulation is exempt from the APA under 9-6.14:4.1 B11(effective 10/1/01, 2.2-4002 B11).

Goals of Regulation VDOT seeks public comment regarding the following question:

1. Does the regulation meet the following goals?
- To ensure compliance with state statute (Section 46.2-1104) requiring VDOT to keep list of posted structures on file at the Central Office in Richmond.
- To protect the public's health, safety, and welfare with the least possible intrusion to the citizens and businesses of the Commonwealth.
