Guidance Documents
Chapter Information
Description One of the requirements of eligibility to receive Aid to Families with Dependent Children is that a child is deprived of parental care and support by reason of death, continued absence from the home, or physical or mental incapacity of a parent. This regulation defines deprivation due to death and continued absence. If deprivation due to continued absence is based on separation, the physical absence of the parent from the home is considered sufficient to constitute deprivation if the absence interrupts or precludes parental functioning.
