Action:
2024 Amendments to Regulations Relating to Standards and Specifications for Back-Up Audible Alarm Signals Final / Exempt
Action 6512
General Information
Action Summary |
These amendments are intended to reduce the burden on small business by simplifying the process truck owners must follow when equipping their vehicles with audible backup alarms. The amendments specify that instead of being required to determine the audible alarms meet the applicable industry standards, the truck owner may now rely upon markings or certification by the manufacturer, seller, or installer, that the alarm meet the applicable industry standards. Such marking and certification is easier to both comply with and enforce, placing the burden of compliance on those who already must comply, the manufacturer or marketer of the audible alarm. |
