General Information
Action Summary Chapter 200 of the 2021 General Assembly requires the Boards of Nursing and Medicine to promulgate regulations governing the practice of licensed certified midwives. The Code (ยง 54.1-2957.04) specifies the credential that will be considered as qualification for licensure and renewal, the requirement for a practice agreement, and the prescriptive authority for the profession. The Boards will adopt additional requirements similar to other licensed professions for a fee structure, renewal or reinstatement, continuing competency, and standards of practice.
