Description of Proposed Guidance Document Changes
The Board for Branch Pilots (the Board) has reviewed and voted to amend the following guidance document. 1. Guidance Document 5008: Branch Pilot Renewal Requirements. The guidance document currently contains a summarization of renewal requirements for Branch Pilots. The Board amended this Guidance Document to reflect the amendments made to 18VAC45-20-20 effective December 17, 2025. The amendments include rewording and updates regarding USCG licensure for renewal applicants. Under the revised, a renewal applicant must possess a valid unlimited Federal Inland Masters credential with First Class Pilot endorsement, which must include a radar observe endorsement for waters of the Commonwealth. Stylistic changes to the Guidance Document were also made.
