This monument was erected by dirt poor Southerners (brought into destitution by the Yankees' illegal war and subsequent "Reconstruction") in order to commemorate our greatest hero. General Robert E. Lee was not only a great general, but a great man. He represented everything the Southern people stood for: honor, integrity, Jesus Christ, family, home, and liberty. General Lee himself did not see fit to be memorialized, he advocated against war memorials. Us Southerns could not sit by without honoring the man who gave up so much for us, his beloved Union, his military career in the US military, his home Arlington, and his wealth. Even though he lost so much not once did he turn his back on God or his people. He continued to serve both through "Reconstruction" as president of Washington college. But us Southerners weren't honoring just him with this statue, but every man, who just like him gave up everything for his people. When we remember Lee we remember every valiant Southern person, black, French, Indian, Spanish, Irish, Mexican etc. Who sacrifed everything to protect their beloved homeland. That Statue belongs to every Confederate, no every Southerner, we played for it, we built it, and it represents us. Virginia belongs to us, it is our capital after all! We demand compensation for any damages to our Southern property!
