Safety Standards for Abortion Clinics

The Virginia Board of Health should support the plea for the same standards of health care quality at all clinics.  They should provide health care to anyone and everyone, and not allow the standards of health to be lowered for the care of women.  This would be discriminating against women and minorities who seek health care at these facilities.  We deserve the right to excellent health care everywhere.  We want to feel comfortable and safe going into an abortion clinic, with the same confidence and trust in our caretakers as we have in those at hospitals and other clinics.  Why should women be discriminated against in this situation?  It is the legal right of a woman to have an abortion, and she should be able to have one in a truly safe environment.  We simply want the same standards of health that we can receive in any other medical facility.

The cleanliness and safety of abortion clinics should follow the same standards as other clinics without question.

Some have argued that if the standards of abortion clinics are aligned with those of other medical clinics, the accessibility of abortion clinics would decrease.   Evidently, if they are arguing this, they must foresee a notable amount of lack of accessibility.  The only reasons why raising the health standards of an abortion clinic would limit its accessibility are because it is either too costly or too time-consuming to do so.  However, why would this be too costly or time consuming, if the standards of abortion clinics are already extremely close to the standards of other facilities?  Clearly they are not.  So the standards of the abortion clinics must be incredibly far below all other medical facility standards.
