Minors, abortion clinics, chronic abortions

To whom it may concern, I would just like to voice my utmost support in the abortion clinic regulations being as stringent, safe, and appropriate as possible. I have had the experience of being a Resource Mother through the Virginia Department of Health in the Hampton Roads area. During that time, I noticed that many of my teen clients had already had multiple abortions by the age of 16. Some verbalized that this was their primary form of "contraception". It is clear that this is not the case for everyone. However, abortion regulations are crucial to women and teen girls who face the challenge of making a life-altering decision. I am requesting that the standards of abortion clinics in Virginia not be diminished in any way, but strict accountability be put in place for the welfare of the mother and the welfare of our future. It is troubling that the Governor recommends removing key requirementin a abortion regulations. As noted, it is required by law. In reviewing the abortion facility inspection reports, several facilities had deficiencies related to parental consent. If the Commissioner, VDH and BOH all feel the need to alert abortion facilities to the necessity of notarization, I think the people of Virginia would agree. I agree. Please retain the regulation as amended by the BOH, and do not incorporate the Governor's recommended amendment to 12VAC5-412-230(B).
