I oppose the No Kill Advocacy Center petition for rulemaking that would affect animal shelters. Considering that recordkeeping has always been required, this is unnecessary. This petition will mandate duplicate records that most shelters already keep. Forcing additional requirements on shelters does not improve their standards of care. This will not impact potential adoptive homes. Such a rule will only distract already-burdened staff and take resources away from animal care, rescue, cruelty investigations, and adoptions. The No Kill Advocacy Center is essentialy one man, located in California. who does not shelter, provide medical care, spay-neuter, or do anything remotely beneficial for animals in the manner that shelters do. This is nothing more than a personal vendetta and Virginia shelters and the state's animals shouldn't be the scapegoat.
