Students should be required to have supervision, please read details in email.

I want to be informed if a student will be doing any procedure or surgery on my pet or a pet of anyone in Virginia or surrounding states.  Furthermore, I would like to require that if a student will be performing any procedure or surgery on a pet, written consent from the owner is required.  Period.

Secondly, if a student is allowed to perform procedures or surgery after getting owners consent in writting,  a Doctor will be present and observe the student.  I expect the following supervison.

In the room-Any student who has been in a program less than 12 months requires a doctor to supervise any and all procedures and surgery.  !2 months an over- the student can perform procedures and surgery after the student has consulted a doctor and have gone over their Plan that they intend to perform on a pet.  The doctor will evaluate the direction of the student and review their course of action.  After the doctor has reviewed this plan of action, the doctor can sign off on the approval and allow the student to perform the surgery without direct supervision.  However, a doctor will always be requrired to be in the facility in case of an emergency.  So, a Doctor will always be required to be on premises when any procedure or surgery is performed on any animal or pet.

Contact with Doctor and Student- There should be a customer service liason that helps to communicate to pet owners if a Doctor or Student is not available.  If, the pet owner desires to talk with the doctor or student, a 10-15 mintue time should be set up unless this possess a strain on resources or would place other animals in danger from lack of doctors care.  So, in summary, If a Doctor is available to call back a requrest that should be done if possible.  A student should not have any problem calling a customer back and explaining and answering their questions.  If additional research is needed, the student can then consult with the doctor and call the customer back.
