TRAP Laws hurt women and families

As a woman, a resident of Virginia and a recipient of health services provided by clinics like those that have been targeted by politically motivated  conservatives, I encourage you to do all that's in your power to reverse new clinic regulations in our state.

These new regulations are medically unnecessary restrictions designed to shut down health centers that provide reproductive services, but place no similar restrictions on doctors and clinics that provide equivalent patient services so it's laughable that they are are touted as being in the best interest of patient safety.

In fact, they jeopardize women's health by making it more difficult to access preventative care, birth control and cancer screenings, in addition to safe and legal abortion services.

Abortion is an extremely safe and common procedure. These restrictions single out abortion providers even though other procedures, performed in similar outpatient clinics, have a much higher rates of complication and are not being subjected to the same regulations.

The real motivation behind these laws has nothing do to with women’s health and everything to do with shutting down clinics and preventing women from getting safe and legal abortions.

I hope you'll remove politics from my healthcare access by reversing these thinly veiled, politically motivated restrictions.
