I spoke at the public forum on March 6th, but I didn't speak quickly enough to finish. (My bad ). Although the Mayor and the Commission are well-meaning, I don't think there's the sense of urgency needed. (The Virginia Legislature bears major responsibility in this). Maybe more importantly, Richmond is missing the unique national opportunity to help bring about more rapid racial and historical reconciliation. I suggest that the best way to expedite things here would be to send the Davis moument back to Alabama ASAP, replacing it with a monument to the USCT (US Colored Troops). Of all the candidates being considered for a special place of honor I cannot think of any more deserving.
