STRONGLY OPPOSED

There is no evidence that CACREP graduates are more competent or effective than non-CACREP graduates, and given the growing demand for more counselors in the field, why on earth would we unnecessarily restrict who can be professional counselors especially when there are numerous other counseling programs that are high quality, rigorous, and accredited by other reputable accrediting bodies? The NCLEP proposal continues to be unnecessariy restrictive and favors CACREP-only graduates. This is NOT In the best interest of the public -- it is in the best interest of CACREP. Oppose the proposal to adopt the NCLEP in Virginia.
