Roanoke Valley Dental Society Sponsorship of Continuing Education Programs

I would like to offer my support for passage of this petition. When this issue was brought up for discussion with the RVDS, I and most of the older members of the society were shocked to find out that the programs were not approved for continuing education credits for license renewal.

For 35 years I have been attending meetings and taking credit for the continuing education lectures. To remain on the hospital staff here, I need 30 hours of continuing education per year. Now I find that although the hospital will accept these credits, the Virginia Board of Dentistry will not; but they would if the courses were sponsored by the dental assistant society or the dental hygienist society. This seems totally backwards to me.

Obviously, this is an oversight that needs to be corrected, and I urge you to help us correct it.
