I strongly support the placement of IV catheters by non-licensed technicians/assistants when under the supervision of a veterinarian or LVT. LVT's are not LVT's simply because they can place catheters, they have a vast amount of training and knowledge beyond that. Can any LVT who opposes this initiative honestly say they can place a catheter better than an experienced assistant just because they have that certification? OR is it because they put in the time to practice, and master this technique?
