Dry Needling

I am an advocate of dry needling as a key part of treatment for various physical ailments. Several specially trained physical therapists have performed dry needling to treat a variety of problems including a TFL strain, calf strain and recovery from hip surgery. In each of these cases, dry needling was performed conservatively after we explored other treatment methods and dry needling resulted in the most improvement in the shortest period of time. I traveled internationally extensively in the years following an allograft of my hip labrum. Long flights and extended trips wreaked havoc on my long-term recovery and return to normal physical activity.  After trying other treatment methods including stretching, massage/tissue work, foam rolling without measurable success, we turned to dry needling. Relief and improvement were much faster following this method. I would not hesitate to have dry needling performed on any trigger points in the future and request that this treatment remain an option.
