Dry Needling is great for pain management

T

Thank you for taking the time to view my comments.  I have been a patient of Trigger Point Dry Needling for almost 6 years now following an injury to my back that left me with severe chronic muscle pain and spasms.  I have tried many treatments to help with pain management including nerve blocks, acupuncture, massage therapy, myofascial release, pain medicine, TENS Unit, chiropractic care, etc… The list is extensive, costly and time consuming, not to mention devastating every time I look to something new for relief only to be let down when treatment fails.

It was only after I began dry needling that I was able to find and sustain some level of normalcy, bringing my pain level down to where I could better manage it and once again enjoy quality of life.

Erik Wijtmans and the staff at The Therapy Network in Virginia Beach, VA made me feel comfortable from the very beginning about this treatment that sounds a little scary by its title alone.  However, their professionalism and kindness put me at ease right away.  In the years that I have been going there, that has never changed.  Upon every visit, the therapist takes time to talk to me about my pain and things I may have done to affect my pain or things I may have done that contribute to my pain relief.  That really makes me feel like I am a big part of my pain management and it makes me feel like he understands that even though he is very well educated and highly trained, my opinion about my body is still a valuable asset.

In fact, those are the two major things that keep me coming back to this particular therapist: his extensive training/experience and the way he treats me.  I live in a rural area of NC and this treatment is not easily accessible to me.  I drive about 50 minutes to receive treatment.  Although the drive is not comfortable for me, the relief I receive makes the difficult drive worth it.  A new dry needle therapist started a practice closer to where I live, but I have no interest in switching.  Even though it would cut my drive in half, I am so impressed with my VA therapist, I will stick with him.

As I continue to search for solutions to help cure me of my pain, I find that the dry needling seems to be one of the most reliable parts of my current pain management plan.  The dry neeling consistantly brings me some amount of relief.  The few times that my schedule has forced me to skip an appointment or put too much time between appointments, I see a marked increase in my level of pain.  Therefore, I am very grateful to the treatment and the staff at The Therapy Network.
