Dry Needling Is A Type of Acupuncture

?Dry needling is a type of acupuncture.  Calling it by a different name does not make it different.  Both Dry needling & Acupuncture use acupuncture needles, which are placed into specific points in muscles in order to stimulate the local tissues and related nerves.  As an acupuncturist in practice for 8+ years, I personally do not practice "energy medicine", nor am I working on the "energy body" with acupuncture.  In my practice, treatments are targeted on real, physical structures including muscles, nerves and organs.

If my neighbors and I start calling my VW Jetta a "Dry Needle", can I drive it without considering the laws effecting other cars?  If my friends and I decide to use a different name, is a car not still a car?  Does changing the name somehow make it exempt from established laws?
