I've been a licensed acupuncturist for the last 6 years and think that dry needling takes the technique of acupuncture without the knowledge and background of the cultural diagnosis and treatment approach in tact. Over the years, I've had patients who've presented to me after seeing a PT for dry needling who've experienced a pnemuothorax or excessive pain or bruising due to the forceful nature of the technique.
