It is important to remove last names from badges for the safety of nurses. Although I do not work on a psych unit, I take care of many patients with psych diagnoses. Any patient could be unhappy with their experience and "go after" those that took care of them. Today, social media is very popular, and it is far too easy for someone to find, harass, or take action against a nurse when their name is being flashed to everyone.
