To protect RNs from harassment and privacy violations from displeased patients and families, I call on the VA BON to amend this policy to remove the Surname requirement from RN ID badges. Patients and families knowing their nurse's last name in no way affects the quality of care provided, and allowing the Nurse that privacy prevents possible harrassment by an unhappy and vindictive patient or family member.
