Dry needling IS acupuncture. 
Dry Needling is a public safety issue and health concern due to inadequate training with needles, clean needle technique and clinical training. PTs should be required to achieve the same training for the use of needles in their practices as do Chiros and MDs. Period. 
A weekend course IS NOT ADEQUATE for any type of invasive procedure involving the use of needles, hollow or filiform.
