Dry Needling is part of acupuncture system

Acupuncturists are highly trained to insert filiform needles safely through the skin.  Dry Needling is also known as trigger point therapy which was orininally done manually.  This correlates to "Ashi" or "pain point" acupuncture.  It is a technique of acupuncture by definition-Acupuncture is the insertion of filiform needles inserted in specific points to alleviate pain and bring balance to the body. Acuouncture is an invasive technique with potential to harm underlying structures.  Only those with adequate training to perform acupuncture should be allowed to practice it.
