All students who are working on a pet should be required to get consent from the owner before doing anything. Sure, the students get more experience, but the owners of these pets are being forced to unknowingly accept risk. Someone with no certification iis working on my animal with no supervision. Replace "animal" with "son or daughter" and you can see the absurdity of this idea. Even if you regard pets as property, you wouldn't allow an unsupervised construction student to build you a house.
