TARP regulations, don't close our clinics

I have always admired the work of the Virginia Board of Health (BOH), whether it concerns clear water, reduction in the spread of AIDS, etc.  Thus, I was shocked at the politicizing of the BOH to be aligned with the draconian policies of our former Attorney General and a group of reactionary delegates.  I want to remind the BOH that you work for the citizens.  In a state where women’s and family’s health seems to be an afterthought we need you to stand by us and keep clinics open without instituting unsupported, overly restricted regulations.    Realizing that these current burdensome and medically unnecessary regulations will close women’s health centers, restricting access to the comprehensive health care these centers provide, including cancer screenings and birth control, as well as abortion, please rewrite these politicized restrictions so that they rely on evidence-based medicine. Rather than allowing political or ideological forces to dictate medical care, regulatory action should be based on sound principles of public health and sound scientific data.
