Obtaining a valid ID is easy for some people but not for all. Voting is for all eligible citizens of the state.  My parents are in an assisted living facility. They have not left the premises for two years (except to go to the hospital via ambulance). Transporting them outside the facility puts them at risk. Their health should not be endangered for them to be able to exercise one of the most fundamental rights of our constitution. Not allowing expired IDs disenfranchises a number of citizens. The effect of this law is to prevent people from voting. That is neither democratic nor American.
