Scrolling through the comments, it's easy to see the concern of the public for their own animals. However this is simply an issue of lack of information. Students aren't doctors yet, and we clearly understand that. But we are asking established veterinarians to evaluate the students level of confidence/knowledge when working with them and have the discretion to make that decision rather than the law. Rather than go from zero to sixty during our 4th year, we are asking to take baby steps to make that transition easier. Who isn't to benefit from this? We (students) gain more practical experience and VMRCVM has the ability to graduate veterinarians that are competent and confident on a higher level than before.
