Commenter: Caring Mental Health Worker

Unfair and Unrealistic. Decision makers need to access the community before making decisions

The importance of attempting to regulate the unecessary and over paid money is very understandable; however, that starts with the stagnate companies and client's that are not making documentable progressions. If those two components are weeded out then maybe the financial decrease could be met without destroying families in need of quality Mental Health Services.

As it relates to client's meeting the criteria for coverage it has been made harder to qualify. Initially there were only two criteria that the client's needed to meet and a few months later that was increased to four. There are several client's who have had qualifying axis I diagnosis (Bipolar/schitzophrenia affective disorder) for several years and now they will sit home idled.

When the client's were allowed to work on their ADL's in hopes of becoming independent they were busy and productive. Now because of this decision these client's coupled with their "ocassional dangerous" diagnosis and side effects from medications will be roaming your streets without assistance, support and direction from qualified Mental Health workers. I am writing this today in hopes of the criteria being changed back to something more reasonable and respectable of the client's and families who need help. There are several client's that dont take medications and also have never been hospitalized; however, they still present with glodal deficits in comprehension and communication.
