Our community cannot afford the repercussions of these changes

I am deeply concerned and saddened by the MHSS/MH Skill building eligibility and regulation changes.  As many other concerned citizens have voiced, these changes WILL cause many people with mental illness diagnoses to fall through the cracks and go untreated.  We cannot afford the repercussions of these actions.  Hospitalizations, incarcerations, homelessness, violence, suicide and suffering WILL increase due to these changes.  Preventative and proactive community-based treatment such as MHSS are necessary and inexpensive given the alternative.  Forcing people to be pushed to their limits and hospitalized prior to seeking treatment is risky and will result in unintended outcomes such as suicide.  Please enforce proper auditing of providers and services rendered rather than discontinuing services for a vulnerable population.
