Those before me have eloquently given reasons for not adopting the new regulations as they now stand.
I would add that it is important to me, as an advocate and coordinator of gifted education that the state continues to maintain its role of expertise for all the school districts and their students.
There is very often a great deal of transition in the roles of individuals in a school district, especially in smaller ones like mine. People cannot educate themselves quickly enough for the demands of a new position. The state remains the constant in providing the best practices, leadership, and regulations through our institutions of higher learning, through the staff you make available to us and the training you provide via the internet, emails and even in person.
You provide for equity in educating all students for growth because of the regulations you create. Please continue to grow yourselves and make sure that unlike the Federal Government, the mandates you make are supported and funded adequately.
