Do not adopt these regulations as written!

  • Please do not adopt:  Further dialogue with multiple stakeholder representatives is necessary.
  • Please do not adopt as written:  Removing state final approval could jeopardize decisions about funds and services, especially in tight budget times.
  • Please do not adopt as written:  While measuring student growth is important, assessments for growth from mastery to expertise for gifted learners is very complex and currently there are not reliable measures developed.  Until this is the case, this should not be part of the regulation.
  • Please do not adopt as written:  Reverting back to an annual plan would diminish the effectiveness of the goals and create a situation where the plan is in a constant state of revision and renewal which would hinder progress.
  • Please do not adopt as written:  Please change the word "and" to "or" in the requirement to serve students in all four subject areas.  Many best practice resources for gifted students integrate the disciplines.  Separating out the subject areas would be a step backwards.
  • Please do not adopt as written:  It is important that districts continue to have the option to administer assessments that align with the programs and services they offer.
