I currently have a daughter in the 4th grade GT program at Brumfield Elementary, she participates in both the math and language arts classes.  The proposed changes would serve only to allow the funding for the program to be cut and used in other areas.  These particular children have needs every bit as crucial as those of other children in the school system.  To potentially take this program away would create an incredible loss for the children it has been designed to help.  

My daughter lives for her GT classes every day.  She is often bored  and unchallenged in her other classes, not because of the teacher or class itself, but because her needs go beyond what is available in the everyday classroom.  

I strongly urge you not to make these proposed changes and to leave the GT program in place as it is.
