TAG has become an excuse for legalized segration ...

Whatever the state does with TAG, please make sure it lives up to its original intent -- to help truly gifted and talented children.  It was never intended to be an "Honors" program or an "AP" program.  It was intended to be tailored to children who truly have unique talents.  My experience as a parent of a child placed in TAG is that it was simply regular classroom with more homework.  It was taught, in our case, by a teacher who was neither talented herself nor gifted -- who could not recognize those traits in children, in fact, if she tried.  And in our small, local elementary school, it was actually just an excuse for legalized segregation......

If TAG is to be taught, it should be taught by someone with talent, not someone who simply has seniority .......  And it should NEVER be simply regular classroom -PLUS.  That has absolutely nothing to do with truly talented and gifted children.
