It has come to my attention that it is permissible to shackle women in labor in Virginia. This practice strikes me as barbaric. In those states which ban this practice, no harm has come to medical personnel, patient or baby as a result. The inherent dignity of a woman, and the sacredness of new life deserve more care and concern than that being provided to someone who is restrained. Please reconsider this cruel practice.
Thank you,
