I am writing to support your efforts to end the requirement that women prisoners be shackled when giving birth.  There seems to be little if any evidence that such a requirement is necessary because of safety concerns.  While I recognize that these women have been sentenced to prison terms for a reason, they should still be treated humanely.  I am glad that you are seeking to end this unnecessarily barbaric requirement.
