Action | Revision of regulations school divisions must meet in their gifted education programs, K - 12 |
Stage | Proposed |
Comment Period | Ended on 9/26/2008 |
Please reject the proposed revisions. Lack of oversight by the state is detrimental to the future of gifted education in the state of Virginia. A gifted student’s education should be valued as much as any other student. These students do require modifications and academic programs at their level. As the economy struggles, local school boards will be tempted to cut funding for gifted programs. Without the funding and oversight from the Virginia Department of Education, these students will be left behind.
