Do not adopt the proposed changes in gifted education

Our gifted children are given less than enough attention in our public schools.  The programs we have are working and have to be state regulated.  With decrease in tax base, the temptation is to decrease support where "the gifted children will rise to the top regardless their circumtances in the classroom".  It simply is not true.  They need to have academic programs at their level.  Already, the sols are not measuring whether they are making AYP because they are not assessed on their level.  We need to have the state standards to make sure counties don't let these children slip under the rug.
