As a mother of 5 children, 4 of whom are identified as G/T and a current educator in the Fauquier County School system....it is my hope that you will not adopt the current revisions.  These new revisions do not allow for the various school systems throughout the state to provide appropriate services to all gifted children.  Our state has a wide range of counties--physical size, funding capabilities--and this must be taken into account.

It would appear that the revisions were made without knowledge of this student population.  It is in all of our best interests to seek input from educators that have a direct relationship with the gifted population and its needs.

Overall these new regulations seem to be moving backwards rather than forwards into the future with these children.  Yes, they are the best and brightest.  And they will succeed perhaps with or without our assistance.  But just as we are to ensure the yearly growth of the least capable child in our school systems, we need to ensure the growth of our most capable as well!!!   To deny them their chance to excel with our expertise and guidance would be a disservice to not only the child, but to the community as a whole.

Please do not adopt these revisions.
