Proposed revisions- Virginia Gifted Education Regulations

On behalf of the Petersburg City Public School Local Gifted Advisory Committee, I am writing to you in response to the proposed changes to the Virginia Gifted Education Regulations.

The Board of Education should not approve the proposed revisions of regulations governing gifted programs in Virginia.  Virginia has always been an influential leader and model for how states should support and govern gifted education.  The proposed regulations would limit services and program funding.

The Board of Education should instead adopt changes submitted by:

Viginia Association for the Gifted

Virginia Consortium of Gifted Education

Virginia Advisory Committee for the Education of the Gifted.

The recommended changes would be instrumental in maintaining a strong gifted program.

Thank you for your efforts and respectfully request that you reconsider the proposed Regulations for  Gifted Education.

The Petersburg City Public School Gifted Advisory Committee
