I am a parent of two children who have already benefited from the gifted program in Fairfax County, and we have another child who is likely to enter the system in another year.  The gifted program serves a unique yet vital need for children who would languish in a mainstream classroom.  The gifted program has enabled them to thrive.  We need to maintain the quality ensured by DoE oversight, as well as protect the funding necessary for the gifted program to succeed.
