USE OF TERMS "MENTAL RETARDATION" and "EMOTIONAL DISTURBANCE"

Please STOP using the terms "Mental Retardation" and "Emotional Disturbance."

Instead, I recommend replacing the term "Mental Retardation" with the much more appropriate and accurate term, "Intellectual Disability."

The term "Mental Retardation" negatively stigmatizes those it is applied to, and is discriminatory.  This must stop.  "Intellectual Disability" is the accurate, appropriate term to use.
Let's call it what it is -- a DISABILITY>   Same reasoning applies to the negative term, "Emotional Disturbance."   I recommend replacing that term with "Emotional Disability."
