sped regs

Hello,

I would object to removing the parents right to prevent the LEA from unilaterally removing achild from sped either partially or fully and to permit this removal to occur without parental consent.

I strongly object to the revised eligibility definition of the disability category of Autism. 8vac 20-81-80

N1. Any of the pervasive developmental disorders, autistic disorders, not otherwise specified including aytipical autism.  I feel that this would become more of an excuse to pigenhole more kids into more classrooms with restrictive access to full education, with children of various disorders, for much longer periods of time educationally than is needed. As soon as they comfortably able, they should be educated with all children in regular classrooms, with those regular teachers being made to accept and as able to accomodate as many of those learning differences as is possible.

I object to developmental delay as being a disability category as it is being supposed.

I object to the elimination of short term goals.

Parents should also be given information on how to respond to teachers when they feel their children 's education needs are not being met.
