As a RRT, I work in all areas of a Level 1 Trauma Hospital like Peds and Adult ICU's branching into Neuro, Trauma, Cardiac, Multi speciality, Peds rehab, NICU, and Emergency. Even though I may not do the hands on that the Nursing staff does, I can see and learn and the bookwork only enhances the reasons behind the WHY we are doing the care. I am a critical thinker and will always rationalize why we are doing a procedure or test and what does it mean to the care of the client. To the respect of those Nurses who acquired their degrees with clinical experience, I applaud you for your chosen route of education but one is not better than another. Nursing school teaches us the framework and skills and it up to the learner to apply those skills. We are tested clinically just as a traditional school but we practice in a mock clinical setting. We are still tested with live patients just as you are. We deserve the same respect as any other professional.

I fully support Excelsior College.
