Dear VA Dept of Forestry,

Please amend Virginia State Forest Regulation 4VAC10-30-170 so that law abiding citizens such as myself are able to protect ourselves from criminals and wildlife (such as bears).  I do not think that amending this regulation would lead to illegal hunting or abuse of the wildlife.  My wife and I enjoy going on long hikes with our dog.  We should, as should all law abiding Virginia citizens, be able to protect ourselves.  

Thank you for your time.  I would try to attend the public meeting but I am deployed with the Army in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
