Concealed carry in Virginia State Forests

I am an avid hiker, backbacker, fisherman, and hunter.  I am considering a job in Virginia.  I take a concealed weapon with me largely to have it when I come home to an empty house.  I like to have it with me when hiking alone for protection from 2 and 4 legged creatures.  The older I get, I increasingly realize I won't be fighting anything off without it.  The warning shot for animals is very effective.  Just the possibility that a victim might be carrying will change the mindset of the criminal.

What I also like about the ability to carry in the state forests is its reduction of the number of places excluding gun carry with a legal permit..  Depending on where you travel during the day, you can accidentally break the law.  Can here, can't there - its too complex.

I really believe the security of the public will be enhanced by allowing concealed carry in state forests and the complexity of where you can use your legally obtained permit will be reduced.

Thank you for your consideration,

Sherman
